avec DIáSPORA

For this third podcast of our season, we dive into the vault for a conversation we had last spring with keyboardist / vocalistChiquita Magic and percussionist / vocalist Anaïs Maviel of DIáSPORA following a two month tour of South America. Their duo is a cross-cultural collaboration that makes music shaped by the complex diasporic relations of the American continent (where Indigenous, African, European & Asian cultures formulate unique and ever-changing musical expressions). Influences from folklores, avant-garde and dance culture (hip hop, electronic music, afro-descendant drumming, vocal catharsis) impact compositions that coloiur widely improvised performances with unheard esthetics.
