Jessica Moss et Novarumori

@ La Sala Rossa, 4848 boul. St-Laurent, Montréal

Innovations en concert presents the long-awaited symphonic expressions of violinist/composer Jessica Moss!

This hour-long performance will present brand new arrangements and interpretations of Jessica’s compositions from across her five albums: Under Plastic Island, Pools of Light, Entanglement, Phosphenes and Galaxy Heart.

From performing solo to performing with an orchestra: Since the release of her debut recording in 2015,  Jessica Moss has toured and performed extensively around the world, exclusively alone on stage.

She is a strong  believer in the dynamism and energy exchange of performance being created live, and thus has made it her practice to use analog equipment (instead of computers) and not play along to pre-recorded tracks.

Jessica creates her performances in the moment, using a sophisticated setup of looper and effects pedals traditionally built for electric instruments, with which she can move freely between building huge musical environments and extremely intimate single voiced moments.  However, this mode of performance necessarily excludes some of  her more complex, multi-voiced compositions, many of which have never been performed live until now.

Since fall 2021, Jessica has been working with Isak Goldschneider and the chamber orchestra Novarumori on adaptions and arrangements of her compositions to be performed with an ensemble. This exciting new project will be the first time that she performs with an orchestra, and the premiere of many of her pieces that can only be brought to life with multiple players.

Founded by Isak Goldschneider in 2012, Novarumori focuses on experimental, ambient and post-minimalist music in a chamber setting reinforced with live electronics and extended instrumental techniques.  The ensemble has a clear vision to ‘demystify’ the orchestral experience by holding concerts in non-traditional venues and working with composers outside of the academic mainstream.

Looking forward to seeing you at this unique event!
