@ Fonderie Darling, 745 rue Ottawa, Montréal

Ida Toninato et ensemble ILÉA

Montreal-based saxophonist, composer and improviser Ida Toninato has an ear for the unknown, exploring reverberant spaces with uncommon acoustics and electronic set ups with a strong sense of bonding. She will be presenting at the Darling Foundry the outcome of a creation residency in those walls : from hours spent exploring the brilliant acoustic of its walls, she will be sharing her most precious secrets.

Also on the program: Ensemble ILÉA, a Montreal ensemble dedicated to improvisation in mixed music with acoustic and electronic instruments, founded in 2016 in an initiative of Kevin Gironnay. The group explores new ways of guiding its improvisations and lingers over creating music following an instantaneous instinct, accepting the unexpected. Its musical range spreads from acoustic tones to harsh noise music. Ensemble ILÉA strolls in between these two worlds, adopting and using their codes and sounds.

Members of Ensemble ILÉA: Alexandra Tibbitts (harp) / Alexis Langevin-Tétrault (electronics) / Ana Dall’Ara-Majek (electronics) / Charlotte Layec (bass clarinet) / Geneviève D’Ortun (saxophone) / Jeremy Chignec (flute) / Kevin Gironnay (electronics) / Olivier Marin (viola) / Pierre-Luc Lecours (electronics) / Simon Aliotti (percussion) / Vincent Fliniaux (double bass)
