Temporel 2022 :: en co-diffusion avec Codes d’accès

@ Ausgang Plaza, 6524 Rue St-Hubert, Montréal

In collaboration with Codes d’accès, Innovations en concert is delighted to act as co-presenter of Temporal 2022: a most contemporary program, highlighting the diversity of practices in creative music and the limitless ambition of emerging artists. Local creative music in its most innovative form, through two evenings of meeting, listening and exchange!

The second evening of Temporel 2022 offers an exhilarating program, with a new premiere for electric guitars by Kevin O’Neil, as well as the live version of the cycle Éclats, entitled Chroma, by composer Pierre-Luc Lecours.

O’Neil returns with a brand new work for electric guitar quartet, performed by his ensemble teotwawki (for “the end of the world as we know it”). O’Neil seeks to extend the performative register of the instrument by exacerbating its characteristic attributes and sound material. In particular, distortion, the use of power chords, the distinctive hum of the amp and its constant noise level are placed at the service of a subversive music. A talk will follow about the electric guitar and its place in the world of contemporary music.

Finally, Pierre-Luc Lecours honors us with the world premiere of Chroma. This multimedia project brings together the works of the Éclats opus, released under the empreintes DIGITALes label in January 2021. Entitled Noir, Violet, Rouge et Blanc, the four pieces of the cycle are freely inspired by their associated colors. Their materials bring together acoustic instruments, synthesis, soundscape and everyday objects in an arrangement both intuitive, expressive and dynamic. In this live version, three musicians will perform the parts of flutes, percussion, cellos and amplified objects. Added to this is a staging with audio-reactive video design. The Chroma project promises a total audiovisual experience that integrates the multiple facets of Lecours’ work, in line with his current artistic concerns: the decompartmentalization of contemporary musical practices, the dialogue between different cultures and musical heritages (both electronic and instrumental) and the exploration new forms of audiovisual expression. The creation of this work is made possible thanks to the support of Innovations en concert.
