nu:nord is an artistic community-building project. In the form of a week-long new music encounter (July 2-9, 2012), it brings together emerging leaders from the artistic communities of Canada and Norway to share ideas and present new musical works. It offers a place to look up from the page and meet the people with whom we all share the privilege and responsibility of maintaining and developing new music creation into the future. Through peer-evaluation, positive criticism and a stylistically non- discriminatory environment it aspires to build a supportive core that will strengthen the contemporary music community from the inside out. It encourages the symbiotic growth of composers and interpreters towards a shared understanding of our common goals as artists. The creation of this positive space will lead to the emergence of a more vibrant, diverse and far-reaching contemporary music community.
