An exceptional and inclusive performance at Edifice Wilder, co-created by equally exceptional individuals living with diverse abilities.
The GIFT project was initiated by musician Louise Campbell, who is a conductor, cultural mediator, and music health professional. Featuring musical works for solo clarinet, solo trumpet, electronics, and video projection, this concert expresses the generosity of shared experiences and co-creation processes.
Exploring themes of family relationships affected by cognitive decline, altered perception of time in Parkinson’s disease, and the use of the creative process to express emotions when words fail, GIFT explores the various ways of navigating the world, connecting with others, and seeking to be understood.
Alongside the concert, workshops, conferences, and panel discussions are offered. On October 7th, a double event will be held, with the joint launch of the Creative Music and Health resource from the Canadian New Music Network and the new issue of revue Circuit, musiques contemporaines on Participatory Creative Music. The day also includes a conference, a cultural mediation activity, and a panel discussion: Social Prescribing, exploring the link between creative practice and health. On October 9th, Le Vivier will host a panel discussion on New Music and Disabilities, presenting initiatives aimed at making creative music accessible to people living with diverse abilities.
