The Bakarlari and ILÉA ensembles present Émanants, an immersive sound experience in the Cité-des-hospitalières chapel. This site-specific concert will feature six new Canadian creations intermixed with structured improvisations.
Lasting approximately an hour and fifteen minutes, Émanants invites the public to wander freely around the chapel, where a dozen musicians-playing acoustic and electronic instruments-will be scattered throughout the space. Some sounds will emanate from the altar, while others will escape from balconies or hidden corners of the space. Audiences and musicians alike will be able to move freely, interacting fluidly with the sound phenomena that will come to life around them.
Émanants is a non-stop concert featuring written solo pieces and guided group improvisations: an invitation to experience music differently-without barriers, without a fixed stage-where the audience becomes part of a continuous musical flow, emerging and disappearing in the complex dialogue between space, sound and improvisation.
