@ Église Saint John the Evangelist (Red Roof Church) 137 Avenue du Président Kennedy, Montréal

Innovations en concert is proud to inaugurate our newest series, Relève en concert, as it bursts on to the scene with its first concert November 3. In this series, we’ll introduce some of Montreal’s most unusual and accomplished young artists, such as theatrical soprano Sarah Albu, speaking pianist Andy Costello, and baroque-experimental ensemble Les amusements de la chambre. Join us as we celebrate the young creative forces renewing our effervescent milieu!

Soprano Sarah Albu will perform compositions exploring language and memory – some intimate and nuanced, some brash and theatrical. Her program includes Henri Pousseur’s Mnemosyne I and George Aperghis’ Recitations, as well as premieres of new works by Montreal composers Luke Nickel and Mason Koenig.

Trombone virtuoso Felix Del Tredici will present two of the most important cornerstones of the 20th-century trombone repertoire: Luciano Berio’s Sequenza V and Maknongan, by Giacinto Scelsi. He’ll also perform two new Canadian works and the Montreal premiere of The Felix Variations, specially composed for him by his uncle, the Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer David Del Tredici.

The warm acoustics of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Montreal’s famed “Red Roof Church”, will provide an intimate and inviting locale for an evening to remember!
